2012 Ford Expedition

The 2012 Ford Expedition remains the do-it-all full-size SUV. Tough, functional and refined, the Expedition features a best-in-class trailer tow rating of up to 9,200 pounds complemented by an array of clever control technologies to help customers tow confidently in just about any condition, on or off road.

Expedition features standard seating for eight. XL and XLT include a standard 3rd-row manual bench seat. A PowerFold® 3rd-row seat is available on XLT. If your taste is for premium accommodations, you'll find everything you’re looking for in an 8- or available 7-passenger Expedition XLT Premium, Limited or the King Ranch® model. All three come with a host of amenities including leather-trimmed 1st- and 2nd-row seats and the PowerFold® 3rd-row seat. If you need more cargo room, the manual 3rd-row bench seat or the available PowerFold® 3rd-row seat can be folded down for a flat load floor. The 2nd-row split bench seats also fold flat to floor for maximum cargo space. Expedition EL provides 130.8 cu. ft. of storage behind the 1st row, while the Expedition gives you 108.3 cu. ft. of storage behind the 1st row.

Avoiding an accident takes driving skill, along with a complementary suite of well-engineered active safety features, such as 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, Traction Control System and Tire Pressure Monitoring System, all standard on the Ford Expedition SUV. But should the unavoidable occur, rest assured you and your passengers are well protected by a sturdy safety shell, side intrusion door teams, a comprehensive system of six airbags, and the SOS Post-Crash Alert System. Keyless Entry System, SecuriCode™ keyless entry keypad, plus Perimeter Alarm System are security features that also come standard on every Ford Expedition.

AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) selectively applies the brakes and modifies engine power when wheel slip is detected. This helps minimize skidding and fishtailing and provides greater control on surfaces such as ice, gravel or rain.Ford Expedition is equipped with six standard airbags, strategically placed to help protect you and your passengers.* There are dual-stage front seat airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, and side curtain airbags (part of the Safety Canopy® System)* that deploy from the headliner on both sides of the vehicle. A rollover sensor directs side curtain and side airbag deployment in the event of a rollover or certain side-impact collisions.

Whether the road is filled with snow, ice or gravel, the available Control Trac® Four-Wheel-Drive System helps provide sure-footed traction. It does so by dividing engine torque from front to rear. The system operates in four modes:
• 2H (2WD): Power is delivered to rear wheels only. For normal on-road, dry pavement driving.
• 4A (4x4 AUTO): In this mode, electronic control four-wheel-drive power is delivered to all four wheels, as required, for increased traction. For all on-road conditions, including dry road surfaces, wet pavement, snow or gravel.
• 4H (4x4): This setting provides electronically locked four-wheel drive to front and rear wheels. Intended only for severe winter or off-road conditions, such as deep snow, ice or shallow sand. DO NOT use on dry pavement.
• 4L (4x4 LOW): When extra power at reduced speeds is required, this electronically locked four-wheel drive mode should be used. Used for off-road, low-speed operation or when extra power is required in situations such as climbing steep grades, going through deep sand or pulling a boat out of water. DO NOT use on dry pavement.
